PERRYSBURG, OH — Perrysburg Stands Up is urging voters to look deeper into the
three School Board candidates endorsed by their newly created political action
committee, Perrysburg Education Association or PEA. Three School Board candidates
endorsed by the teachers’ union and its PAC come with serious conflicts of interest and
very troubling ideological agendas that prioritize the system over the students and
taxpayers it’s supposed to serve.
One candidate is a current teacher, raising clear concerns about divided loyalties
between union priorities and public interest. Another has a direct financial conflict of
interest: his wife works in the district’s Treasurer’s Office, and he is employed by The
Collaborative—a firm that does business with the Perrysburg School District on building
design and planning projects. These ties create significant questions about objectivity,
accountability, and financial oversight.
“All three union-endorsed candidates represent the same insider network that benefits
from the very system they are meant to oversee. In doing so, creating conflicts of
interest and eroding public trust lowering transparency, and putting politics before
performance,” said a Perrysburg Stands Up spokesperson. “Our schools need
independent board members who answer to the community—not the union or their own
business interests.”
The group warns that these candidates’ alignment with “woke” ideological positions
signals more division and distraction from the district’s real priorities—academic
excellence, fiscal responsibility, and accountability to taxpayers. Our community
deserves independent voices on the School Board—not insiders hand-picked by the
teachers’ union and its political arm.
“The teachers’ union has every right to support candidates,” the spokesperson added,
“but voters have the right to demand independence. Perrysburg deserves leaders who
will represent parents, students, and taxpayers—not special interests.”
Perrysburg Stands Up encourages all voters to learn the facts before casting their
ballots and to support candidates who bring independence, integrity, fiscal responsibility
and transparency to the School Board. It’s past time for accountability, transparency,
and leadership that answers to the community—not to special interests groups.
